A black bear, a bald eagle and some ridiculously heavy dumbbells walk into a gym...
Gym Buddies plays with a very recognisable part of contemporary gay culture: the gym. Training, lifting heavy and building a strong physique have become almost their own social ritual, so naturally, the bear community deserved its representative.
The muscular black bear is caught mid-workout, pushing some serious weight with all the intensity of someone determined to get one more rep. Beside him is a bald eagle, another animal associated with power and strength, making the two unlikely but perfectly matched training partners
Dimensions: 30 × 30 cm
Medium: Textile collage (Using repurposed materials)
Framing: Black shadow-box frame with glass
